Lloyd Sam

Quote:
Charlton's Lloyd Sam is being linked with a possible move to City in the summer. The Addicks winger is still to sign a new contract at the Valley and could become a free agent at the end of the season. City, QPR and Sheffield United are said to be watching developments.

Re: Lloyd Sam

Surely we don't need a new winger anyway?

We've got Dyer, N'Guessen, and Gallagher seems to play there now too. In the summer we probably need some kind of defensive-midfield player.

Re: Lloyd Sam

He sounds like the kind of player who might adjust to Championship football. We do not want players who can adjust to championship football. We will only get promotion with players who are too good for the championship. If we are able to keep the present squad we need four players and no more - but those four players should be the best we can possibly afford. We need two new fullbacks. Morrison is IMO excellent but he may be needed at centreback. Berner is ageing. We need another quality midfielder. Howard is struggling at this level and we need a big striker to do the job Deane did under Micky Adams. Bringing in players for other positions will only reduce the amount of money available for the four.
It cannot be emphasized enough that championship standard players will only keep you in the Championship; they will not get you into the Prem.

What tosh. Why on earth would Prem class players go to a club in the Championship?

Maybe this kind of player IS the best we can afford?

This is a bit simplistic isn't it - many players who would have been deemed "Championship players" or worse have gone on to prove themselves at a higher level (look at almost the entirety of O'Neill's team). Dismissing the potential, totally unsubstantiated signing of Lloyd Sam because he comes from League 1 and didn't set the Championship alight when he was in it really limits your options in the transfer market.

I personally think Pearson has given us enough evidence to suggest that we can trust his ability in the transfer market (albeit with a couple of donkeys), whatever division that may be in.

Too simple David, money talks. These players you talk of would rather sit on the bench at lower Premiership clubs.

Anyway Sam has had Premiership experience if I remember correctly.
